Scott flew to Austin for an emcee gig over the weekend so I spent some much needed time cleaning out my closet… my closet that has been absolutely terrifying for an embarrassing amount of time. I’m talking real Marie Kondo nightmare stuff. Like, it’s been so bad that I have had to push the huuuge pile of whatever was in there back in order to slide the door closed. Gross, right?!
I’ve really wanted to toss out everything and start over
with some quality pieces that will last me through the season. But I also don’t
want to drop a bunch of money on a new wardrobe since we’re saving for a
wedding (I swear I’m working on the engagement post!) and house and honeymoon
and Jake’s college fund and errrrthang else.
I’ve been searching the internets for some affordable spring style essentials that can replace the rif–raf that’s been creepin’ in my closet. If you’re looking to do the same, check out my favorites below. P.S. These are affiliate links, which means I may make a commission if you click on one. Thanks, friends! Xo

Okay, so here’s what happened. This post was supposed to be about cute wall art on sale at Target. It is still about that, but it took a slight turn when I started sifting through their online aisles to find my favorites. (Target is having a buy one, get one 25% off wall art sale that ends today. So get to it!)
It seemed all my picks had one thing in common—animals! Like, they’re so cute I can’t handle it. I know it’s not a shocker to learn I am an animal lover because y’all know I am obsessed with my rescue babe, Jake. But man, just know there were a lot of high-pitched squeals happening this morning when I was pulling together this post. What I’m even more excited about is that most of them are all Kate & Laurel, which is an adorable decor company I can’t wait to get to know more.
If you want to get in on this squeal action and add some cute animal wall art to your home, read on for my favorites… starting with the one I seriously spent about five minutes giggling over. xo
… when you realize you’re unsure how to spell raccoon. Buy him here.
Which one do you love the most? Do you like animals? Or art prints? Are you into this? What else do you want to see on this here blog? Tell me in the comments below!
Gah, I love this season so hard. I’m that person who LOVES to watch people open the gifts I give them. It’s the equivalent to watching the groom’s face when he first sees his bride walking down the aisle. Yes, I love it that much. If you’re headed to any Friendsgivings or holiday parties, be sure to pick up a small gift for the host or hostess. Even if it’s just flowers, it goes a long way. And there’s no such thing as “just flowers.” If you want to gift them something a little extra special, check out my favorite home gifts from Anthropologie. Click on the photos to shop! They’re affiliate links which means if you click on one, I make a small commission. Thanks friends!
For the past few weeks, I’ve been waking up and pulling on a sweater although I live in LA and it’s still hot out. I make it about halfway through me and Jake’s walk until I am frantically pulling it off because as I mentioned earlier, it is still hawt. I realize it’s not quiiiite sweater weather, but I just feel like maybe I can will it to happen. Maybe if we all work together and pull on sweaters, the universe will be all like OH SHOOT, I FORGOT, YOU’RE RIGHT, HERE’S YOUR COLD WEATHER, YOU WHINEY BABIES. Ahem. If you would like to get in on this with me, check out these supes cute sweaters I found under $100. Shop them below by clicking on the photos. And per usual, they are affiliate links meaning I’ll make a little bit of dough if you click on one of them. Thanks in advance for funding Jakey’s treats! (Also, I am totally serious about the first two.) (Of course I am.)
Happy November! A beginning of a new month means a new color crush for Mel. I know, I’m so scandalous. This month’s hue was inspired by these super cute russet orange Veja Esplar Bastille Sneakers from Anthro. Gah, right? That set me off on a mission to find other gorgeously orange stuff and things. Shop my favorites for the month below. ‘Member these are affiliate links, which means if you click on one I may make a small commission. Thanks in advance, friends! xo, mel
Oh, how I love me some Bungalow Rose. Not only do I obviously love the name, but this brand has soooo many cute stuff and things! Need a cute rug? They got it. Need a cute planter? They got it. Need a cute wall hanging? Oh, they got it, y’all. I first learned about Bungalow Rose when Scott and I were shopping for new pieces for our rental house. I fell in love with a pouf in the most beautiful blue indigo hue. I loved it so much that I bought two. Take a look at some of the other cute thangs from Bungalow Rose I have my eye on. BTW, these are affiliate links, which means if you click on one I may make a small commission. Thanks in advance, friends! xo, mel
