Remember that time I went to Silver Lake and walked around with three neato people drinking iced coffee, dipping in and out of shops, eating brunch, laughing over Mimosas (not at Mimosas—I would NEVER), drooling over puppies at the dog park (GIMME) and swearing I would get back in shape (I haven’t) after almost passing out when walking up a steep set of stairs? No? Oh that’s right, because I haven’t told you about it yet! Well I did do all of these things and they were haaaamazing.

Okay, my favorite things go like this. Scott, then corgis, then popcorn, then cheese. And I think wine and IPAs are in there somewhere. And queso. And guac. Okay there’s a bunch, but let’s move on to the point of this post. CHEESE! Scott and I made a visit to a new-ish cheese shop near our hood in LA, Wheel House. It’s a cute little spot filled with meats, charcuterie, olives, crackers, jams, and of course, CHEESE! Need a gift for mom this weekend? Cheese. Need a platter for a party? Cheese. We were a bit overwhelmed looking at the large selection of goodies. Blues, Bries, hard cheeses, soft cheeses. Oh good lawd, I was in paradise. Thankfully there were a couple very nice cheesemongers happy to steer us in the right direction. (Thanks Ben and Noble!)
In honor of National Beer Day, I’m sharing my photos from the 2015 LA Beer Fest! This was the third year I attended the event, which showcased over 200 beers at the LA Center Studios. Highlights were the Stella airstream, kick-arse jams from the Black Crystal Wolf Kids and mustache rides courtesy of the Traveler Beer Co. Oh, and of course there was the beer. My favorites this year were the Enegren Brewing Company (which started in the dorm rooms at LMU), Royal Jamaican Alcoholic Ginger Beer, the Einstök seasonal Arctic Berry and Shiner’s Ruby Redbird. YUM. Enjoy the pics, then go grab yourself a brew!
