San Antonio Days 3 & 4

Let’s continue with our San Antonio shenanigans, shall we?! We spent the day with my step mom Mona. She’s this wonderful person who has no fear and will conquer anything and everything she sets out to do. She sees the world in other creatives, and will encourage the heck out of you in just one short chat. Her enthusiasm and spirit make me feel like I am She-Ra. Mona took us to a new resto/bar in SA called Barbaro. It’s located in a great neighb of San Antonio—Monte Vista. A friend of hers (Hi Whitney!) met up with us and we all gushed about future creative projects we would someday hopefully work on together. It was fun, fun, fun. My favorite thing about this place (if I have to choose just one) is the off-the-menu drink called the Blanche Devereaux. I MEAN!! A drink named after my favorite golden-ager floozy? It’s made with lemon, bourbon, apricot liquor and honey syrup. Sign me up. My step bro John (Hi Juanito!) met up with us and had their glorious pizza. Don’t miss out on this place, y’all. It’s as cute as it is yummy. Continue Reading

San Antonio Days 1 & 2

I moved to San Antonio from Austin just before high school. I love going back to see my family, stuff my face with tamales and queso (and margaritas) and stop into my favorite shops. The city has changed so much, and I really enjoyed experiencing the new flavor during this trip. The first thing Scott and I did when we got into town was meet my dad AKA Daddy Rip at my favorite quirky health-Mex joint, Adelante. The cash only restaurant is super laid-back, colorful and serves delicious fare. I’m obsessed with the Poblano soup and veggie quesadillas. Rip always orders the Summer Plate. This is a must when you’re in town. Continue Reading

Malibu, Here I Come!

Guys! I have such an exciting weekend planned. Mr. Scott is busy at a bachelor party in Sunriver, Oregon, (Hi Scott!) but don’t you worry about me! I have some Texas women in town to keep me company! One of them (Hi Katie!) recently moved to Malibu actually, so we’ll be living it up all weekend fancy-pants style. Her home is right on the beach and it’s breathtaking. Unbelievably relaxing. I love getting a little sun on the patio while sipping coffee and listening to the ocean waves and the rustle of pages of US Weekly being flipped. Seriously though, I’m excited to catch up with my gals. I cherish these moments. I always feel like my battery power is restored after spending time with Kate. Follow our shenanigans on Instagram over the weekend. Happy Friday!

Solvang Take Two

Scott and I met some friends in Solvang on Saturday. (Hi Ryan and Lisa!) It was an unplanned trip which I find make some of the best. We mosied around the Danish town noshing on cheese plates, marveling at the decor, giggling at horse drawn trolleys, sipping wines at some of our favorite tasting rooms and dancing to tunes at the Solvang Brewery. On the way home, we made a quick stop to say hey to a few hungry ostriches and emus. Below are my musts for Solvang and Insta moments from the trip. Enjoy, and don’t forget to check out the pics from our last trip to Solvang! Continue Reading

Arizona Or Bust

Scott and I took a road trip to attend a friend’s wedding in Scottsdale, Arizona last May. Along the way, we met some dinosaurs, grilled cheese sandwiches, generals and delicious(!) world famous date shakes from Hadley Fruit Orchards. Enjoy the pics, then go have yourself a darn good Wednesday! Continue Reading

Ashland, Oregon

ashland-oregon

Scott and I just got back from spending the holidays with his fam in Medford, Oregon. On one of our other recent trips to Medford, we took the short drive south to Ashland. What a cute place! Its hippie-like vibe reminds me a bit of Austin. If you’re ever there, I recommend you visit the local shops, grab a beer flight from the Standing Stone Brewing Company and see a show at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival… or just peak your head into the outdoor Allen Elizabethan Theatre. Enjoy the pics and enjoy your holiday trips!
