Modern Witchy Vibes

Welp, it’s that witching season time of the year when I forget to plan a Halloween costume and spend hours on Pinterest searching for last minute costumes. I swear, Scotty and I come up with genius costume ideas in March or April, but when October shows its cute butt, we suddenly forget all of them! Though there was that one year we went super meta and dressed up as Tina and Gene from Bob’s Burgers playing Topsy and Thomas Edison. Oh! And then that other year where we dressed up as Eleven and fake Will Byers in Stranger Things. Okay, so maybe sometimes we rule. You know what I’m feeling this year though? Witchy vibes. But like modern witchy vibes. Like cowgirl chic witchy vibes. Keep scrolling to shop my vibe this season.

Every modern witch needs a bewitching dress.

And a badass faux leather jacket.

With boots of course.

Glam it up with some earrings.

And some sultry beauty products.

Top it off with a hat.

What are you dressing up as this Halloween? Holler at your girl in the comments below!

9 Cute White Booties from Anthropologie

First of all, bootie is a hilarious word. Second of all, white booties are one of the many shoe trends for fall and winter. Can I tell you a secret? I don’t own any! I’ve always been wary of white shoes because they get so dirty so fast, but recently I learned that Scotchguard can help white shoes repel dirt and stay whiter longer. You probably already knew that, didn’t you? And I mean, if they get dirty, just clean the dang things, MELODY. Anyhoo, with all the cute white booties popping up in my favorite shops, I’ve had a change of heart. I am so ready to get my feet into some cutie patootie white booties. SEE WHAT I DID THERE, GUYS?! I’ve rounded up 9 of my favorites from good ol’ Anthropologie. Hope you find some of your favorites too. xo, mel

It all started with a chair. Well, I guess it really started with the mailman who dropped an Annie Selke catalog in my mailbox. (Thanks, man.) It seemed like a normal day. I had just sat down with Jake on the couch to sip some coffee and sift through the mail when suddenly, I flipped open the aforementioned catalog to a page that read Tradition with a Twist—unapologetically feminine. Bold, beautiful, balanced. AND I FREAKED OUT. I mean, right?! It was just a simply beautiful statement. One that I was like man, that was so pretty, while at the same time feeling like YOU’RE DAMN RIGHT! I’M A GIRL! AND I LIKE PINK! WHAT OF IT?!

Ahem. Right below those words was the cutest pink chair I have ever laid my eyes on. This chair. That’s when I knew. Pink is my color of the month. If you’re feeling it too, take a look at my current favorite pink thangs below. xo

Platform Slides

I’ve never been a heels girl. I mean, I’ve tried. Maybe on two or three occasions in my life have I worn them. Don’t get me wrong—it’s not that I don’t like them or that I’m throwing shade at other lady friends for wearing them (get your heel on, girl!) I just can’t physically do them. I think I skipped a class or am missing a gene or something. This girl just can’t wear heels. But what’s a 5’5″ (5’6″ on my driver’s license;) girl to do when she wants a little height/forgot to take her new pants to Nordstrom to get that tricky hem? Enter: platform slides. As long as they’re not too high, I can actually pull these bad boys off. If you can’t be trusted with heels either or you just want to add some variety to your shoe game, check out these 12 platform slides I’m currently lusting after. xo

Happy LGBT Pride Month! This month is all about the celebration of individuality, gay rights and how far those rights have come (and how far they have not), remembrance of those who have fought for equal rights in the past, keeping it 100 by being your true self and the freedom to love who you want to love. Whether you are off to a pride picnic, parade, party, or hey, you just want to add some color to your wardrobe, I think you’ll like my rainbow vibe pics below. I sure like ’em—I’m excited to add a few of these to my closet! Ooh, also, keep scrolling past my pics to view a few of my favorite pride blog posts floating around the internet. Cowgirl Up

I just got back from my trip to Palm Springs for Alt Summit. I’m working on a post to fill you in on all the amazing things that happened while I was there so stay tuned. In the meantime, though, I wanted to share some cowgirl vibes with you. I don’t know if it was the desert or the crazy number of cool hats that were floating around the conference perched above very fashionable heads or THE FACT THAT I AM GOING TO AUSTIN FOR SXSW NEXT WEEK! I mean, the fashion that was on display there was incredible. I still can’t get over a cool gal I met (hi!) who was wearing the most amazing shirt that had cats on the collar. Even the description doesn’t do it justice. I need this shirt in my life. Anyhoo, I was inspired to wrangle up (GET IT?!) some of my favorite cowgirl attire. I hope it inspires you to do a bit of yeehaw-ing yourself. xo Continue Reading
